Pink House Studio is now launching a residency program that explores the intersections of art, ecology and local knowledge. The program offers space for one invited artist to stay and work on the island. For this first phase of this residency, we inviting artists that we follow for years and that we believe that their practice aligns with the island’s potential.
Living on the island, we are embracing the rhythm of the seasons— becoming nature’s cycles and changes. As part of this year’s theme, we are connecting our programming with the island’s seasonal cycles by organizing a variety of activities, including workshops, excursions, publications, a screening program, marmalade-making, foraging, and learning about local edible plants, along with other hands-on practices. The residency extends this approach by offering space and time for one invited artist to conduct research and create work within this context.
Pink House Studio is pleased to invite Charlotte Koopman to participate in our residency program, Seasons, Rituals, and Harvesting, in Syros.
During her residency, Charlotte will conduct research on the island’s native edible plants, with a particular focus on the caper (Capparis spinosa). Her stay aligns with the foraging season of the caper, allowing her to directly observe and engage with its harvesting process. This plant holds a central place in her practice, where she weaves together people, recipes, stories, and plants—creating a living network through these encounters. Through her research, she brings these elements into dialogue, using the caper as both an ingredient and a storyteller—its flavor, history, and ecology intertwining with the landscapes, traditions, and communities that shape it.
The residency will take place from May 5th to May 26th, 2025.
