The project “Everything in Between” marked our first public event at the new location in Syros. As we look to the future, we are also shaping the present, capturing the essence of everything around us~
Over the past few years, we’ve focused on renovating our space. For us, the process of constructing a space is more than just building; it’s about bringing life into it and fostering social connections. Our aim is towards meaningful exchange, resourcefulness, and lasting local impact.
During the event, our studios (Kostas Varveris and Pink House Press) were open to the public for discussions and exchanges. Later in the evening, we hosted a screening program on our terrace, situated between the studios.
The program featured three short films by artist friends Sofia Dona, Nico Dockx and Alexis Gautier. What unites these films is their focus on spaces defined by poetry, flexibility, temporality, and invisibility—spaces that are sensitive to the environment and capable of engaging a community in collective efforts, whether physical or mental. These films have been with us since we moved to Syros and have played a key role in our growth and development on the island.
Avec le vent – Nico Dockx (with a live score by Menas Vallianos) Avec le vent… is a public space project curated by Nico Dockx with Cari Gonzalez-Casanova and local sailors from the Nautical Society of Marseille.it features 16 artist-designed sails by figures such as Ann Veronica Janssens, Koo Jeong A, Anri Sala, Jonas Mekas and Rirkrit Tiravanija. These moving artworks formed an experimental sea-bound exhibition.
Katarakt – Sofia Dona
The short film KATARAKT focuses on a coastal village of Chios called ‘Katarraktis’
only 6.8 miles across the coast of Turkey and it relates its name to
‘cataract’ the eye disease. It talks about blurred vision, memory, migration,
contemplation and borders.
Cricket island – Alexis Gautier
Through registration and documentation, it brings us closer to a project that starts from the Indonesian cultural context, where he collaborates with local artisans to devise an artificial island that re-creates the mythological space of the landscape in which it is inscribed. And in which you can imagine a new beginning.
